PLAYING FGO

I was never a fan of mobile games that requires a large dedication of time and money. Until 1 year and 7 months ago, I fell into this hell-hole called Fate/Grand Order.

Back then, the Fate series was something that I just got in touch with. Seeing that most of my cosplay peers advancing on the JP or China server on FaceBook, I had a vague idea of what the game is all about. So, I downloaded the NA server through QooApp (the app is not available in my country) and dragged my friend Esther down the rabbit hole together.

As a newbie, I had a lot to learn. There were existing guides and old players carrying me throughout the game-play. I struggled to farm EXP cards and Mats to level up my servants and my tendency to raise them equally was a challenge. There were times when I need to obtain event-only materials then I found out I do not have the event-based Servants or Craft Essence. Up until today, I am still struggling. Sometimes, I have this feeling of giving up on certain events because of the time-consuming farming mode. I am also frustrated with the low progress on bond points despite the long hours of grinding. Not to forget that my Gacha luck is extremely shitty this year.

As much I have complaints about this game, there are two reasons I am still continue playing. The first reason would be storytelling. I found some of the beginning chapters are pretty bland, until the later chapters of Part 1, which there is an improvement as the OG Fate writer, Nasu took over as the chief writer of Camelot and Babylonia. Event-based can be either releasing a comical sense, or they can be as compelling as the main stories.

The other reason is the characters, based on either fictional or historical characters that we all familiar with. Going through different Singularities to interact with the Servants or obtaining them through the Gacha is similar to making friends and knowing them through a personal and emotional perspective. As a history and mythology geek, I am always eager to learn more about a new Servant by making external research on his or her origin story. They are proof of humanity with different achievements and origins, but they come together to fight something that goes against what they represent.

Here I am, an experienced FGO player who suffers from an immense amount of Gacha salt. To show my love for this series, I made this blog solely to review each FGO chapter and certain events on story narration and the main characters. As well as showcasing Servants and characters in the story.
